Calm lions Vs Ferocious lions: SC dismisses plea challenging National Emblem atop new Parliament Building

Supreme Court refuses to entertain a PIL alleging violation of the State Emblem Act in putting up the emblem atop the new Parliament building.

“It depends on how you look at it. It’s your perception”, the Supreme Court said and rejects a petition alleging violation of the State Emblem Act in putting up the emblem atop the new Parliament building.

The petitioners had moved the Supreme Court against the lion sculpture installed on the top of the new Parliament building under construction as part of the Central Vista Project.

The Supreme Court, however, considering the plea rejected the petition, after noting that the petition is devoid of merits

“The State’s emblem of India of Central Vista project cannot be said to be in violation of State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005 as alleged,” the Bench of the Top court said, in its order.
