Rakhi Sawant’s anticipatory bail was denied in the ex-husband’s defamation lawsuit.

Actress and model Rakhi Sawant filed an application for anticipatory bail in a Mumbai court yesterday. Her former husband, Adil Durrani, filed the case, accusing Sawant of distributing his private, sexually explicit recordings on media platforms. The accusations and the purportedly sexually explicit material that Sawant allegedly conveyed were noted by Sessions Judge Shrikant Y. Bhosale as being both vulgar and explicit.

The fact that Sawant had a case against her for a comparable offence pending further indicated to the judge that she had a criminal history. “The Court may grant or refuse anticipatory bail relief based on its discretion, taking into account the specific facts and circumstances of each case.”After examining the accusations, case facts, and circumstances, I believe that this is not a suitable case for granting anticipatory bail relief,” the court stated in its judgement dated January 8.

Sawant is accused by Durrani of violating his right to privacy by disseminating lewd videos of him. Thus, in accordance with Sections 500 (defamation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code as well as Section 67A (posting sexually explicit content in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, a first information report (FIR) was filed.

Sawant then applied for anticipatory bail in a Mumbai court through lawyer Ali Kaashif Khan. She said that Durrani had not told the authorities that he had taken the videos using his own phone. Meanwhile, Sawant’s application was denied by the prosecution, who said they had not yet looked into where these videos had been published.

The police also mentioned that a second co-accused in the case needs to be looked into. On November 29 of last year, Sawant was given temporary protection from arrest by the court. Following Sawant’s motion being denied, the court decided to provide temporary protection until January 11, 2024, allowing Sawant enough time to file an appeal with the High Court.
