Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has officially confirmed her marriage to Pinaki Misra, senior advocate in the Supreme Court and a veteran BJD leader, held in a private ceremony in Germany on May 30, 2025. Known for her sharp political acumen and fiery speeches, Moitra posted a heartwarming image on X (formerly Twitter), where the couple is seen cutting a wedding cake. The caption read: “Thank you, everyone, for the love and good wishes!! So grateful.”

In the photograph, Moitra, 50, donned a peach saree that complemented Misra’s waistcoat, and their wedding cake stood out with playful symbols like a gavel, sunglasses, handbag, and briefcases, creatively representing their political and legal careers.

Congratulations Pour In

The wedding attracted a stream of congratulatory messages from political peers and public personalities. TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh wrote, “Congratulations Mm & Pm… Mahua Moitra, Pinaki Misra, wishing you a lifetime of love and laughter!”

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor added his blessings: “Wishing my good friends and colleagues, Mahua Moitra and Pinaki Misra, all happiness as they embark on married life together.”

Veteran poet Javed Akhtar and TMC leader Derek O’Brien also extended their heartfelt wishes.

All About the Newlywed Couple

Pinaki Misra, aged 65, began his political career with the Congress Party, winning his first Lok Sabha seat from Puri in 1996. He later joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and served multiple terms in Parliament. A prominent legal mind, he is currently a senior advocate in the Supreme Court. Misra was earlier married to Sangeeta Misra, with whom he has two children.

Mahua Moitra, now in her second term as the MP from Krishnanagar, is a former investment banker who transitioned into Indian politics after working with JP Morgan in New York and London. She entered politics in 2008 and quickly emerged as a prominent voice within the TMC.
