UP govt’s move to take over Jauhar University: SC agrees to hear SP leader Azam Khan’s plea tomorrow

Supreme Court agrees to hear tomorrow a plea mentioned by Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, Azam Khan against the Uttar Pradesh State government’s move to take over Jauhar University at Rampur.

Senior advocate, Kapil Sibal, appearing for Khan, mentioned the matter, before the bench, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Uday Umesh Lalit, who said, we will take up for hearing the matter tomorrow.

Sibal mentioned before the Supreme Court bench led by CJI Lalit that there are 87 cases registered against him (Azam Khan). With great difficulty we got bail for him. Then on allegations of corruption they (state administration) filed 3 more cases.

Now they have taken over the university. Closed down the mess. The children don’t have food. They now claim that a cleaning machine of the municipal corporation was buried in the ground. They have broken the walls. Teachers not being allowed to go to classes, Sibal pleaded before the Supreme Court and sought urgent hearingn into it. “Let the matter be listed tomorrow, for hearing, ” the CJI Lalit said.
