1-The Supreme Court will hear on November 29 the petitions filed by Shiv Sena’s rival groups in connection with the Maharashtra political crisis.
A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court had said that a larger constitution bench may be required to consider certain issues related to the political crisis in Maharashtra.
It also asked Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar not to take any action on the fresh disqualification notices issued against Shiv Sena members. Various petitions filed by both the factions of Shiv Sena are pending before the apex court.
2-The Supreme Court will hear on November 29 the petition filed against the release of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case.
The petition has been filed on behalf of women’s organization – ‘National Federation of Indian Women’, among others. The National Federation of Indian Women, through its petition, has said that the Gujarat government’s decision to prematurely release the convicts is completely arbitrary.

3-The Supreme Court will hear on November 29 the case of trees cut in Mumbai’s Aarey Colony. On August 5, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) told the Supreme Court that no trees have been cut in Aarey Colony since October 2019.
On August 24, the court directed MMRCL not to cut trees. The Supreme Court had said that strict action will be taken if the directive is violated.
4-The Supreme Court will hear on November 29 the petitions filed against the ‘Jallikattu’ sport of Tamil Nadu and the bullock cart race of Maharashtra.
In these petitions, the laws related to these sports of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra Government have been challenged. The Tamil Nadu government’s counsel urged the apex court to hear Jallikattu (bull-taming sport) after the winter vacations as a compiled report has to be submitted in the matter.
5-The Supreme Court will hear on November 29 the recommendation for the cultivation of genetically modified mustard.
The petition has been filed on behalf of anti-GM activist Aruna Rodrigues. The petition, filed through advocate Prashant Bhushan, states that GM farming is harmful to the environment and biodiversity.
On the other hand, many voluntary workers, farmer organizations and beekeepers have protested after GM mustard got approval from GEAC. In 2012, the committee constituted by the court gave a recommendation against GM crops.
