Amarmani and Madhumani have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the sessions court and the Nainital High Court for the murder of their husband and wife.

Madhumita Shukla was murdered in 2003. Madhumita was pregnant at the time of the murder. Amarmani has been in jail since 2003.
