The Supreme Court will hear on February 15 the bail plea filed by accused Anand Giri in connection with the suspicious death of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad president.
The Allahabad High Court refused to grant bail to murder accused Anand Giri, after which Giri challenged it in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court has issued notice on the bail plea of Anand Giri, accused of abetting the suicide of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad President Mahant Narendra Giri.
Mahant Narendra Giri, the then-president of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad, was found dead in a room of his monastery on September 20, 2021.
A suicide note was found near his body in which he accused his disciple Anand Giri and two others of abetting his suicide.

A constitution bench will continue on February 15 hearing petitions filed by rival factions Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in connection with the Maharashtra political crisis.
During the hearing of the matter, Kapil Sibal said that the court primarily has to decide the issue of whether the 2016 five-judge judgment in the Nabam Rabia case should be referred to a seven-judge bench.
In fact, in 2016, a five-judge constitution bench, while deciding the Nabam Rebia case, had held that the Speaker cannot proceed with a petition for disqualification of legislators if a prior intimation to the Speaker for his removal is pending in the House.
Matter of iron ore being extracted in Karnataka
The Supreme Court will hear the matter of iron ore being extracted in Karnataka on February 15.
In the last hearing, the court had directed the Center and the Karnataka government to clarify their stand on the export of iron ore extracted in the state.
The Court had also directed the Central Empowered Committee and Monitoring Committee appointed by the Supreme Court to submit a status report mentioning the estimated available quantity of iron ore on the ground.
The court had earlier refused to lift the ban on exports of iron ore pellets from Karnataka miners.
However, private miners had requested to lift the ban on iron ore exports.
Petition filed by former promoters of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited Kapil Wadhawan and his brother Dheeraj Wadhawan
The Supreme Court will hear on February 15 the petition filed by former promoters of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited Kapil Wadhawan and his brother Dheeraj Wadhawan.
The Wadhawan brothers were arrested in this case on 19 July 2022. However, he was in custody since April 2020 due to pending cases in Lucknow and Mumbai.
The chargesheet was filed in the court here on October 15 and cognizance was taken of it.
The Delhi High Court is likely to file a progress report on February 15 in the matter relating to Indian Railways manipulating contracts awarded to it for allegedly supplying contaminated drinking water to passengers and setting up chlorination plants.
Explain that the court was hearing a petition by an NGO called Center for Public Interest Litigation, in which the NGO alleged neglect of the quality of drinking water supplied to railway passengers and rigging in awarding contracts for setting up chlorination plants. There was a demand for independent investigation under the supervision of the court.
