Supreme Court to Hear Petition for Video Conference Facility for Foreign Prisoners on February 9

Petition filed in the case of eviction of the mosque in the Allahabad High Court premises

The Supreme Court will hear on February 9 the petition filed in the case of eviction of the mosque in the Allahabad High Court premises.

The Supreme Court will hear a petition arising out of the Allahabad High Court’s 2017 direction to vacate a mosque located in its premises.

The High Court had asked the mosque management to vacate, following which the Supreme Court ordered status quo.

Case of the 114-year-old National Insurance building in Worli, Mumbai

The Supreme Court will hear the case of the 114-year-old National Insurance building in Worli, Mumbai, on February 9. In 2019, the High Court had allowed the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation to demolish the National Insurance building.

Petition filed by the CBI against Mayank Mehta, a relative of fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi

The Supreme Court will hear on February 9 the petition filed by the CBI against Mayank Mehta, a relative of fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi.

In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had asked the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to meet within a week and share material related to money transactions and disclosures made by Mayank Mehta, a relative of fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi. 

Nirav Modi is an accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case.

Petition filed by the All India Football Federation

The Supreme Court will hear on February 9 the petition filed by the All India Football Federation.

In the last hearing, the court said that several objections were received regarding the draft constitution of the football federation, AIFF.

Tabulate the objections raised to the draft prepared for the constitution.

So that the constitution can be finalized. Let us tell you that Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel was the chairman of AIFF for almost 12 years and he was not ready to step down from his post.

Case of Unitech

The Supreme Court will hear on February 9 in the case of Unitech.

Recently, the Noida Development Authority has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying that Unitech Builder is the biggest defaulter of the Noida Development Authority.

Unitech builder owes Rs 9,678 crore to the authority. Between 2006 and 2011, Unitech builders were allotted 5 plots.

The builder deposited only the minimum amount with the authority.

Bail plea of Raj Singh Gehlot, who is serving a sentence in the money laundering case

The Supreme Court will hear on February 9 the interim bail plea of Raj Singh Gehlot, who is serving a sentence in the money laundering case.

Raj Singh Gehlot is the promoter of Ambience Group. Gehlot is facing charges of defrauding a bank loan of Rs 800 crore.

ED, CBI is investigating against Raj Singh Gehlot since 2019. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered a CBI probe.

The mall is built on a residential plot of approximately 18.98 acres of land in Gurugram.

Will hear on February 9 a petition seeking video conference (VC) facility for foreign prisoners lodged in jail to meet their families and relatives living abroad.

In the previous hearing, the court had asked why prisoners could not be kept in VC cells and linked with their relatives whose credentials have already been verified.

The court had said, “I can understand that this facility cannot be given to prisoners who are high risk so that it cannot be used for any criminal enterprise, but why not other prisoners.”

Bail plea of accused Vijay Nair, Binoy Babu, Sharad Chandra Reddy, Sameer Mahendru and Abhishek Boinpalli in the Excise Policy case

The Rouse Avenue Court will give its verdict on February 9 on the bail plea of accused Vijay Nair, Binoy Babu, Sharad Chandra Reddy, Sameer Mahendru and Abhishek Boinpalli in the Excise Policy case.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had on January 6 filed a supplementary charge sheet in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam.

He did not make Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as an accused even in this charge sheet, while he is named in the FIR.

The ED had said that the investigation in this matter is still going on.
