Supreme Court to Hear Various Petitions including Faizal’s Disqualification from Lok Sabha, Rapido’s Ban in Maharashtra, Amrapali Group’s Projects and more

Petition of Mohammad Faizal, who was disqualified from membership of the Lok Sabha after his conviction in a murder case

The Supreme Court will hear on January 27 the petition of Mohammad Faizal, who was disqualified from membership of the Lok Sabha after his conviction in a murder case.

Faizal has challenged the press note issued by the Election Commission regarding the by-election in the Lakshadweep parliamentary constituency.

The Commission had on January 18 said that the by-polls to the Lakshadweep Lok Sabha seat would be held on February 27 along with bypolls to six assembly seats in five states following the disqualification of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Faisal.

Petition challenging the ban on bike taxi company Rapido in Maharashtra

The Supreme Court will hear on January 27 a petition challenging the ban on bike taxi company Rapido in Maharashtra.

Rapido has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Bombay High Court. Rapido has challenged the Bombay High Court order to stop the service in Maharashtra.

Rapido said in the petition that thousands of employees would be affected.

The High Court had asked Rapido to stop the service saying that it did not have the necessary license.

Petition filed by jailed SP leader Yusuf Malik in connection with the code of conduct violation

The Supreme Court will hear on January 27 the petition filed by jailed SP leader Yusuf Malik in connection with the code of conduct violation.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the Galshaheed police station area, an FIR was lodged against Congress leaders for violating the code of conduct.

In this case, an FIR was registered by the police against Congress candidate Imran Pratapgarhi, current Rajya Sabha member, Muhammad Ahmed, Haji Rizwan Qureshi, Faizan, Muhammad Kamil, and Yusuf Malik.

The hearing of this case is going on in MP MLA Magistrate Court.

Petitions filed in the case of Amrapali Group’s projects

The Supreme Court will hear on January 27 the various petitions filed in the case of Amrapali Group’s projects.

The petition was filed by advocate ML Lahoti, appearing for the home buyers.

He had said that there was a need to set up a new bench to hear the complaints of home buyers.

The court, in its July 23, 2019 judgment, had cracked down on the erring builders for breach of trust reiterated by the home buyers.

The court had ordered the cancellation of Amrapali Group’s registration under real estate law RERA and ousted it from prime properties.

The Supreme Court will hear on January 27 a petition related to the lack of infrastructure in the court in Hathras, UP.

This petition has been filed on behalf of ML Sharma.

In the last hearing, petitioner advocate ML Sharma had told the court that a notice was issued to the UP government in this matter but the reply was not filed by the UP side.

Sharma had said that I have received calls from different states, and he had asked the court to issue notices to all the states in this matter.

The Delhi High Court will hear on January 27 a petition related to the provision of drinking water, internet connectivity, and separate toilets for women in consumer courts in Delhi.

In the last hearing, the court had directed the Delhi government to fill up the vacant posts in all the consumer courts in Delhi. The petition has been filed by advocate Sangam Singh Kochhar.

The petitioner had filed some photographs of the consumer courts in the petition which he had taken himself.

The Patiala House Court will hear on January 27 the application of actress Jacqueline Fernandes, accused in the money laundering case of about 200 crores.

Jacqueline has applied to travel to Dubai from January 27 to 30 to attend the PepsiCo India Conference.

The Patiala House Court will hear on January 27 the bail application filed by Shankar Mishra, accused of urinating under the influence of alcohol on an Air India flight.

Shankar Mishra has challenged the lower court’s decision of January 11 in the sessions court.

The Saket court will hear on January 27 a petition seeking the right to worship the idols of Hindu and Jain deities in Delhi’s Qutub Minar complex.

The court had earlier dismissed the review petition filed for the demand of ownership.
