Justice T Raja of Madras High Court has been appointed as courts Acting Chief Justice by the President of India. The previous acting Chief Justice M. Duraiswamy is retiring from his service on 21st September 2022.
Justice T. Raja will perform the functions of the office of the Chief Justice of the (Madras) High Court,” according to a notification from the Union Ministry of Law and Justice released on Monday till 22.09.2022
On May 25, 1961, Justice T. Raja was born. He received his early education at a Panchayat Union School in Thenur Village until the eighth grade. From grades nine through eleven, he attended Pasumalai High School in Madurai. He also completed his P.U.C. at the Wakf Board College there, earned a B.A. at Madurai College, an M.A. in social work there, and studied law at the Madurai Law College. He began practising law in the Madras High Court in June 1988 after enrolling on June 22, 1988, and he was partnered with Thiru. C. Selvaraj, Senior Advocate. After 2.5 years, he moved his practice to New Delhi‘s Supreme Court.
He practised civil, criminal, constitutional, and service law in New Delhi before the Supreme Court, Central Administrative Tribunal, and High Court of Delhi. For around ten years, he represented Dr. M.G.R. Medical University as Standing Counsel at the Supreme Court.
For almost 6 years, he was the Supreme Court Legal Services Society’s Standing Counsel for all civil and criminal cases. On February 9, 2008, he was appointed as an Additional Advocate General at the Madras High Court‘s Madurai Bench. He has since testified in a number of significant cases. On March 31, 2009, he was chosen to serve as an additional judge for the Madras High Court.
