CJI Ramana Received a Doctor of Law Degree

The Osmania University conferred CJI Ramana with a Doctor of Laws Degree from the Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Chancellor and Governor of Telangana University, and Vice-Chancellor, Professor D. Ravinder. 

Telangana’s Governor-General, Dr Tamilisai Soundaryan, was also present at the ceremony and the university awarded his CJI Ramana a Juris Doctor degree.

CJI Ramana said that global culture poses a threat to local cultural symbols and identities, which brings about new changes and this leads to the ambiguity of our rich identities. He went on to say that social media and television glorify certain ways of life and unfortunately we are all trying to imitate the same.

CJI, recognizing the need for positive change brought about by globalization and science and technology, urged everyone to think about its micro-impacts. He emphasized the disappearance of languages, citing UNESCO reports that half of them could disappear by the end of this century.

CJI made these observations while giving a convocation address at the 82nd convocation of Osmania University.
