Advocate Anurag Sahu of Jabalpur High Court has committed suicide. Allegedly he was upset with derogatory comment made by Justice Sanjay Diwedi during a bail hearing. Advocate Anurag was so depressed by this that he committed suicide.
The deceased body was taken to the High Court by other attorneys. The attorneys went to the Chief Justice’s court when the justice Sanjay Diwedi could not be located.
According to reports, lawyers fought with security forces and vandalised the Chief Justice Court. For the first time in legal history, a lawyer’s commited suicide on comments made by a judge.
According to reports, there was a physical altercation with the security guard amid the uproar. According to Superintendent of Police Siddharth Bahuguna, an advocate’s chamber was destroyed. The investigation into the situation is ongoing.
