A New Chapter in Indian Judiciary: Supreme Court To live-stream Proceedings from September 27

In yet another approach to bring more transparency in dispensing justice, Supreme Court is going to live -stream its proccedings from September 27.

Indira Jai Singh who is one of most senior advocates of the Supreme Court had recently written a letter to Chief Justice of India and demanded live streaming of court proceedings. While citing reasons for doing so, she said that as the most of the matters coming before the court ‘s Constitutional Bench are concerned with matters of public interest and on which even a full court meeting had taken place recently in which judges had given their opinions. After this, judges had given their consent on this matter.

Remarkably, former Chief Justice of India N.V Rammana in his farewell meeting held on August 26, had also dwelt upon making the court proceedings live.

It should be noted that only six courts of India which include Madhya Pradesh High Court, Odisha High Court, Karnataka High Court, Patna High Court as well as Gujrat High Court are showing live -streaming of their proceedings on Youtube.
